Community

No business exists in a space wholly separate from its community, and no company can become an island of prosperity if it is surrounded by a sea of deprivation. The community is where the company’s employees live, where the employees of tomorrow go to school, and where the company’s reputation is most directly made or broken.

Companies that have a big impact on their local environment need to consult, listen and show support. If the business can become seen as a good neighbour as well as a good local employer, it will find it so much easier to build staff loyalty and more likely that when it wants to grow it will gain the support of the community to do this.
